isn't it safe to assume that people are stupid and evil when it comes to daily life? if you are driving you have to assume that guy may pull out in front of you. you expect the worse to prepare for the worse for your self existence and to survive. so people are corrupt as a whole but good as individuals? comment if anyone is reading this lol
you are right. people are not good either as individuals or as a whole. you may be driving safely but what if some bloke decides to crash into your car from the back? its not your fault, but you are affected.
ReplyDeletewell people may be good but there is no way of knowing if they are. you just have to assume the worst to be protected/prepared in life
ReplyDeleteSit at a busy intersection some time and just watch and count. It always amazes me that over 99% of the people are compliant with the traffic lights. They may complain, they may roll over the stop line just a little bit, but they stop.
ReplyDeleteIt's that one person - crazy / stupid / overtired / distracted /whatever that makes life miserable for everyone else - frequently just on in thousands - but that's one too many. Even if they don't cause an accident, they scare everyone to death.
It's in our nature to generalize. We've evolved to generalize. If you see a friend eaten by a tiger - you avoid tigers from then on. You don't even have to think about it. In this case, it's not a good idea. Go when the light is green. Obey the traffic laws, go the speed limit or slower (rain? less than 100% visibility?) because you'll cause more confusion by being overly hesitant.
You can actually make the situation better for everyone by being as considerate as possible: let someone in ahead of you; use your turn signal even if you "don't have to"; refrain from blasting your music, yelling at folks and otherwise being rude. If everyone tried to be considerate, there would be less road rage and the accidents that this leads to.
Don't speed. If you start out early every time, you'll never have to.
Finally: you can't change other people's behaviour. You can only work on your own. Don't get bent out of shape over stuff you can't change.
